In a world full of electric crossovers, the 2024 Jaguar I-PACE continues to feel unique. It's sleek, responsive, and full of charm. The BMW iX may be new, but it brings bulk and tech that can feel a bit much. In Ontario, where drivers want clean lines, great handling, and premium comfort without clutter, the I-PACE fits naturally.
The I-PACE is one of the few EVs that looks elegant without trying too hard. For 2024, its smooth new grille and Atlas Grey accents sharpen its cab-forward shape even more. Satin paint options give it that upscale touch, while everything from the rear diffuser to the side finishers is body-colour now. It feels refined. It feels complete. The iX, on the other hand, leans into oversized proportions and a rather polarizing grille. The look may stand out, but not always in a good way.
Jaguar's dual motors put out 394 horsepower and 512 lb-ft of torque. That's more than enough to reach 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds. It feels smooth and balanced on city streets and country roads. The low centre of gravity keeps it composed in corners. The iX M60 may be faster, but that performance comes at a much higher cost and with lower practicality. The xDrive40 feels noticeably slower, and even the xDrive50 requires stepping up in price for comparable speed. In that sense, the I-PACE gives you more thrill right out of the gate.
Inside the I-PACE, the layout is focused and well-crafted. You feel close to the controls, and everything is placed where it should be. There's 505 litres of cargo space, which grows to 1,163 litres with the seats down. It's just right for road trips, weekend errands, or exploring cottage country. The iX does offer more cargo room, but its oversized touchscreen and dashboard can feel overwhelming. It takes time to learn, and for some drivers, it feels more distracting than helpful.
With a 100-kW fast charger, the I-PACE adds up to 101 km in just 15 minutes. That's perfect for topping up while grabbing a coffee or grocery stop. It includes an 11-kW onboard charger as standard, and while total charge time is longer, most owners plug in overnight anyway. BMW's charging speeds are solid, especially on the xDrive50 and M60, but the system is more complex. Pre-warming the battery manually for faster charging is an extra step that casual drivers may not want to deal with every day.
The 2024 Jaguar I-PACE offers luxury, agility, and ease in a way few EVs can match. It's a vehicle built to move with style and substance through Ontario life. Visit Jaguar Waterloo to test drive the I-PACE and experience electric driving made simple and beautiful.
